I am a teacher, multimedia artist, and freelance
Web designer in New York City.

I began my professional career in Boulder, Colorado as a ceramic artist and later got into filmmaking and performance art. I received an MFA in trans-disciplinary art (film and performance art) at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 1985, and then moved to New York where I began teaching computer art, media production and Web design. At The Dalton School in Manhattan, I taught art to grades 6-12 for 13 years, and helped create a comprehensive curriculum in digital media design and production. I am now an art and technology teacher working in the New York City school system, presently at the Bronx Expedtionary Learning High School, an Outward Bound charter school.

I was awarded a New Forms Midwest Regional Initiative grant in 1989 and an Illinois Artist's Fellowship in 1990 for my personal artwork. I was introduced to the computer in 1987 while working in the museum graphics department at The Art Institute of Chicago where I produced all the exhibition labels, set up the museum's original label archive system and assisted in the production of in-house publications.

I live and work in New York City, and summer in Polson, Montana. I'm an independent freelance artist specializing in Web design, computer graphics, and digital media production and design. I have been working on the internet since the early 90s and continue to assist artists, educators and business professionals in realizing their ideas on the Web and in New Media.

Green Thumb

As a 'Citizen Pruner' with TreesNY, I volunteer to care for street trees in my lower-Manhattan neighborhood and have also assisted with seasonal plantings in city parks such as Battery Park in Lower Manhattan and Grant Park in the Bronx. I also volunteer my professional services to The East Village Parks Conservancy to help them maintain their virtual on-line web-garden which links and profiles the community gardens, parks and greenspaces in the East Village of Manhattan through interactive maps. I created a similar interactive map that linked park profiles in all five boroughs of New York City for New Yorkers for Parks.

I spend my spare time caring for my roof garden, building a house in Montana, walking my dog, riding my bicycle, or making homebrew beer.
