GARAGE WORKS SUMMER INSTITUTE -

Free performance workshop for public and junior high and high school students.

Now in its 5th year, THE WOOSTER GROUP conducts a free performance workshop in August for NYC public junior high and high school students. Directed by group member Kate Valk, students work with a number of guest artists — actors, musicians, dancers, technicians — on performance skills and technique.

The first two weeks — each day includes a session led by a guest artist in addition to regular movement training. Students often are paired with adult leaders (TWG associates and Summer Institute alumni) who participate in all events and exercises. The third week is spent refining material into a final showing for an invited audience of friends and family.

The Summer Institute takes place at the Performing Garage, 33 Wooster Street, NYC.
